Update on your YMCA Members, Programs & Facility Information

We understand you have many questions about the reopening of the Decatur Family YMCA. Below you'll find information on the most common questions we have been receiving. If you need further assistance or have additional questions, please email ymca@decaturymca.org


Is the Decatur Family YMCA open?

Yes. The YMCA is currently open and available for all Y members. Due to state guidelines, there are some restrictions to certain areas of the facility. Currently, the Y has started to reopen most (if not all) of the restricted areas. To view our full 3-phase reopening plan, click here.

Will the Y remain open even with the new mitigation restrictions?

Yes, the Y will remain open under the Tier 3 mitigation requirements. To view what has changed, please click here

What happens if the Y shuts down? How will you communicate this to members?

Should the Y shutdown due to government orders, the Y will communicate in the following ways:

  • - An email will be sent to all members that have email addresses on file.
  • - On all social media platforms
  • - Through text alerts
  • - A press release will also be sent out to the media

Do I need to wear a mask while in the building & while working?

Under the new mitigation requirements, masks must be worn at all times. This include while walking around the facility & while working out (swimming is exempt). There will not be any exceptions to this rule.

What if I don't feel comfortable coming back to the Y? What will happen to my membership?

If you are not comfortable returning to the Y due to COVID-19, we encourage members to continue to keep their account on hold. All holds are good for up to 6-months and allow members to return with out having to pay the joiner fee. You may come back anytime prior to the 6-month release if you choose. Once the 6-months is up, you account will become active and your auto-withdrawal will continue unless we hear other wise from you. To place your account on hold, please call our front desk at 217-872-9622 ext. 0

Is the Nursery & Y-Zone open back up for the children?

Not at this time. Due to low attendance, child watch is currently unavailable.

Are the Goodheart amenities (sauna, steam room & hot tub) back open?

Due to state mandates, no. Those who are currently GH members have received a monthly discount on their membership due to the closures.

Is free towel service available?

Currently towel service is not available. We are unsure of when this will return.

Am I able to play basketball in the large & youth gym?

Basketball has been suspended at this time. Due to the nature of the sport - social distancing cannot occur therefore, we have temporarily suspended all open play basketball

Is the Y allowing guests into the facility?

Yes, but under strict protocol. Please contact the Y for further information.
