Update on your YMCA Members, Programs & Facility Information

We understand you have many questions about the reopening of the Decatur Family YMCA. Below you'll find information on the most common questions we have been receiving. If you need further assistance or have additional questions, please email ymca@decaturymca.org


Is the Decatur Family YMCA open?

Yes. The YMCA is currently open and available for all Y members. Due to state guidelines, there are some restrictions to certain areas of the facility. Currently, the Y has started to reopen most (if not all) of the restricted areas. To view our full 3-phase reopening plan, click here.

Do I need to wear a mask while in the building?

Yes. We do require members to wear masks to enter and walk around the facility. You can, however, take off the mask while working out. But please be sure to place the mask back on once you are finished. If you do not have a mask, a disposable one will be given to you at the front desk.

What if I don't feel comfortable coming back to the Y? What will happen to my membership?

If you are not comfortable returning to the Y due to COVID-19, we encourage members to continue to keep their account on hold. All holds are good for up to 6-months and allow members to return with out having to pay the joiner fee. You may come back anytime prior to the 6-month release if you choose. Once the 6-months is up, you account will become active and your auto-withdrawal will continue unless we hear other wise from you. To place your account on hold, please call our front desk at 217-872-9622 ext. 0

Is the Nursery & Y-Zone open back up for the children?

Yes. We have reopened the both child watch areas for Y members who are wanting to workout. Times and days have changed. For the hours of operation, click here.

Are the Goodheart ammenities (sauna, steam room & hot tub) back open?

At this time, no. Due to the state mandates, we are not able to reopen those amenities at this time. Those who are currently GH members have received a monthly discount on their membership due to the closures.

Is free towel service available?

Currently towel service is not available. We are unsure of when this will return.

Am I able to play basketball in the large & youth gym?

Basketball has been suspended at this time. Due to the nature of the sport - social distancing cannot occur therefore, we have temporarily suspended all open play basketball
