YMCA Youth & Government Program
What is Youth & Government?
Illinois YMCA Youth & Government is a mock government program for high school students in Illinois. We are a part of a nationwide Youth & Government program that is affiliated with the YMCA of the USA.
Our mission is to provide the youth of Illinois with an immersive educational experience to inspire and promote life-long leadership, ethics, responsible citizenship and self-confidence through participation in a unique model state government program.
What do you get to do?
Take on roles of government by drafting legislation, train judicial processes, learn proper parliamentary procedure, participate in debate on state issues and develop public speaking and networking skills.
Roles & Participation:
As a student in this program, you will assume roles of:
- Legislators
- Attorneys
- Executive Officials
- Lobbyists
- Press Members
